A BIT ABOUT ME

Onew Park is a Korean American cellist, born in Santa Barbara. Her cello studies began at the age of 7. Her talent was recognized and awarded at numerous national competitions in Korea during her childhood. She had masterclasses with Lyn Harrell, Peter Bruns, Kirill Rodin, and Young-Chang Cho.
Ms. Park earned her bachelor’s degree at Ewha Womens University in Seoul, Korea. In 2015, she received Masters degree in Indiana University studying with Peter Stumpf. Ms. Park was a recipient of the Artistic Excellence Award in Jacobs school of Music.


After her masters, she moved back to Korea and performed numerous concerts and operas, including the premiere of Dvorak's Rusalka in Korea. She mainly collaborated with The National Chorus of Korea and The National Opera Company of Korea. Ms. Park was a member of KT Chamber Orchestra and Assistant Principal at Korea COOP Orchestra in Korea.


In 2017, Ms. Park moved back to the States and studied with Clive Greensmith from Colburn School. Ms. Park received her Artist Diploma from the San Francisco Academy Orchestra under Amos Yang from the San Francisco Symphony.

Currently, Ms. Park is a member of the Stockton Symphony and performs for the San Jose Chamber Orchestra as well as the Symphony Silicon Valley. 


Her teaching experience is over 10 years, from age 6 to adults. She teached at Green Octave School of Music and was the Senior Orchestra Coach for the Golden Gate Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. Her students have awarded at US International Open Music Competition as Young Prodigy and TVYOC 2020 Young Artist International String Competition. Most of her students are playing for Peninsula Youth Orchestra and San Jose Youth Symphony.
